Girls Night Out

This past week was definitely a blast, and even though I didn't complete as much homework as I would have liked to, I finally feel like I'm finding my place here at Fox and creating awesome relationships with my new friends. Friday night found me, my roomie, and my wonderful new friend Amber walking through downtown Newberg and coming across a fruit stand. Now, to us finding a fruit stand would be like finding water in the desert for some poor nomad. We miss eating fresh fruit that the cafeteria seems to be lacking on a daily basis so we were quite excited. But, alas, we opted for mini pumpkins since October started yesterday! Later, we stopped at Coffee Cottage to watch a friend open for a local band! But, yesterday all of us gals decided to dress up and go to the Cheesecake Factory. highlight of my week! I've never been so proud of my ability to devour a slice of fresh strawberry cheesecake in my life, but don't worry the freshman fifteen will not be visiting me this semester. I'm motivated to work out and eat my cheesecake and taco bell too.

Sweet Beginnings

Well I officially suck at blogging, and I'm really good at reminding myself and other people about that. Anyways, this past month at George Fox has been so sweet and all the new people and all the new activities I do are sweet as well. I know for a fact that I made the right choice coming here and everyday I'm even more thankful that God sent me to this school.
The past few weeks have been crazy so I'd thought I'd right a wee bit about what I've been up to. First, I study A LOT! In fact, people tell me that I'm the queen of studying all the time. At least I'm the queen of something, not complaining. But when I'm not studying I'm either eating chips and queso or watching Project Runway with my floormies. Our dorm even took a trip to Pacific Beach and I climbed the biggest sand dune on the face of the earth. How do I know its the biggest? Probably because my heart was palpating by the time I reached the top. We also had 80s dance last weekend and I had so much fun! Everyone had the best costumes and we all danced our hearts out (no palpating though). Lastly, the past few days have been fantastic! I love the group of people I have meals with everyday and I've gotten to spend more time getting to know them. Well I'm off to study and do some rock climbing!

Leaving the Known for the Unkown

Whew. What a crazy past few days, and its only beginning! Early Tuesday morning I left my childhood home and headed to the Oregon Coast to spend the last couple days with my family. The weekend leading up to my departure was most definitely a roller coaster of emotions. It involved late night movies with dear friends, afternoon Starbucks trips, and prayerful people. In the end it was such a great way to end my summer and say goodbye to those I love.
Early Thursday morning we headed to Newberg for move in day, Yay! I will never forget walking up to the quad on campus and being greeted by my peer advisers giving me high 5's and being so kind. The whole process of moving my stuff in went more smoothly than I had first imagined. Fellow George Fox students actually came up to my dad's truck and started hauling my things up the stairs. Did I mention it was 90+ degrees outside?? I hope I can do that next year for all the incoming freshman, because it was such a blessing! First day on campus was a lot of fun, with scrambling to get my stuff organized and late night Fred Meyer run with the roomie.
Yesterday was our seminar orientation bright and early, and guess who went to the wrong one and sat through the whole thing? Me! What a ditzy start to my new academic career! Sheesh! Anyways, later I had a very tearful goodbye with my family and the intense heat made it even worse. I'd have to say that I miss them a lot :( But after all us weepy freshmeats said our goodbyes we headed on the Mystery Bus Tour! It was so much fun! Even though we sat in a blazing hot bus for a looooong time, it was worth it getting to know my fellow classmates! Hey those who sweat and smell together, stay together! The tour led us into downtown Portland and we managed to see some of the awesome sites and even take the MAX around the city! Lastly, the buses took us to our final location at an amusement park open only to George Fox students! YES!
I'm still very scared and nervous about the transition from my home to living on campus but I know that this new change will be more than I could have ever imagined! I'll try and make sure and blog as soon as possible about all my new adventures. Peace.

Long Time No Blog! Ooopsies

Well that's embarrassing. 2 months since my last post? That's bad. Well, now that its summer, I have more time to devote to my struggling blog that lately has been resembling a wilted wallflower. Anyways, the past several weeks have been equally difficult as well as AMAZING! First off, school definitely was not my friend the past month, some of it was due to the fact that I had a bad case of senioritis and that I was crazy enough to take on another 20+ credit load. When will I ever learn? But I managed to get my head in the game and successfully graduate a week ago! It still doesn't seem very real and I'm shocked by the number of dreams I have about another final to take (my mom just calls those nightmares).
Although, finals were yucky, the weekend afterwards was amazing! My wonderful parents threw me a grad party and I was overwhelmed by the amount of dear friends and family that showed up. Later, I left to go to a Jazzmine BBQ and award night. Let's just say that Sunday was a very emotional day for me. But, in the end, I'd have to say it was one of the best weekends of my life! And I have to give a bloggie hug and shout out to my best friend Kali for always being there for me through thick and thin!
Another great thing that I'm excited about is the fact that I'm moving to Oregon in 2 months! I'm so excited to be attending George Fox University and it is by far my dream school. I went down there a couple days ago and registered for classes and was elated at the fact that I'll be transfering in as a Junior. AND! I was told that I could get my Masters in 3 years! Cue me peeing my pants and embarrassing myself. But you get the picture, I'M SO EXCITED!
Anywho, I'm gonna make sure and start blogging more, and maybe do some fashion stuff since its summa time and all us chickies wanna look our best :) More to come! Peace.

10 things I love about Cali

Well, I just got back from a 5 day trip to Cali for my Jazzmine trip and I'd have to say that I haven't had so much fun in a while. Anywho, here are my top 10 highlights!

1. The fact that its sunny and warm at 9 in the morning! Can't get any better than that!

2. Vending machines that dispense burritos and ice cream! Can you say yum?

3. Our performance at the jazz festival went amazing! It's so great to see how much we have grown as a group, and the judges definitely noticed!

4. Disneyland! We went 3 days!

5. Having awesome friends as your roommates!
Like my dear friend Chelcie. :)

6. Getting to go to my great aunt's 97th birthday! She tells the funniest stories I have ever heard from someone nearing the century mark!

7. Getting to go to the Grauman's Chinese Theater that has the hand and foot prints of iconic movie stars throughout the years.

8. Going to a performance put on by the American Musical & Dramatic Academy called 'Songbook'. I have never heard so many people sing with so much soul and talent. American Idol is gonna have a run for their money! Check out the school here: http://www.amda.edu/campuses/amda-los-angeles/.

9. Making amazing memories with my friends! Like fitting 6 people into a spinning teacup at Disneyville!

10. Giant billboards at California Adventure that make you smile!

Starbucks and me, starting fresh

Remember when I said my day was on the path of suckage?? Not any more! Got everything worked out and I feel so much better! I've set a goal that not very many people I know have done. 22 credits my final quarter at community college. Some may call me crazy, but...yeah I'm crazy. But I know I can do it! Anywho, this lovely picture is brought to you by a lovely student of mine whose mother brought me starbuckkks. Ahh Howard Shultz and I should be best friends, it would be magical. And I was even more excited to see the cup looks so old school with the mermaid. Who doesn't want a mermaid on their coffee cup? Oh, and please forgive the Build-a-Bear in the back. I was forced to create that, and forced to give him a cute pair of overalls. Ah shucks. Well have a lovely evening and be jealous of my starbucks and my teddy bear. Peace.

Doing Hard Things

This was me a little over 30 minutes ago. My day has started out really bad and I'm hoping I can change things before they get worse. My life in a summary has been about doing hard things. I'm going to get down on my knees today and beg a professor to let me into his class so I can have the final 5 credits I need to graduate this quarter. It's going to be difficult and I'll have to push my pride aside. Here's to doing hard things!

My Week

Ah blogging. You and I have had a love/hate relationship. Let's settle this once and for all, shall we? Ok, great. Thanks.
Anywho, I had a very interesting first week of spring classes, here's the good and the bad.

Bad
-Not having a great spring break. Not all of it sucked, but some days had their fair amount of suckage, i.e. my dog died.
-Having to spend close to $200 for a geology textbook.
-Figuring out how much I owe in taxes. Cue 'face-slap'.
-A girl in my class who interrupted the professor and fellow students 44+ times in just an hour and 50 minute period. Yup. I kept track.
-Spilling peach tea on the passenger seat of my car. And my dismay when I realized I had spilled it all.
-
Homework. Nuff' said.

Good
-Vitamin water. Good stuff.
-Realizing I only have to go to school 3 days a week!
-Rude girl in my class getting transferred to a different class. Hallelujah!
-Cleaning my room, it was a victory.
-John Mayer serenading me on Pandora. Too bad the guy's a jerk in real life.
-The feeling of getting a good parking spot, almost to the point where you want to rub it in other people's faces.
-My best friend got herself back into blogging. Double Hallelujah!
-Great lab partners!
-Going shopping with my mom yesterday and finding some awesome deals.
-Eating Thai food. I will never get tired of Won ton Soup and Mango w/ sticky rice. YUM!
